Running To Stand Still(Season 5, Episode 10)

Nathan and Jamie return home from the game(which we didn't get to see because we were watching the women in the library!)Nathan is in the shower when he's joined by his wife. Oh, wait...it's Carrie. Haley walks in and unleashes her wrath. Carrie insists she and Nathan are in love! Haley hulks out and throws her bony ass right out of there.

Lucas receives a letter from the prison announcing that Dan will have a parole hearing. Nathan arrives, needing a place to stay for the time being. The brothers decide to attend the hearing together.

And now it's time for Nathan to grovel. He admits to all the flirting that's been going on with him and Carrie lately.  Haley needs time to process this revelation, hence the need for Nathan to leave.

Meanwhile, Carrie visits Jamie at his school and tells him she must leave, because of Haley. She reiterates that she wishes Jamie was her son. Jamie is bummed. He only knows one thing right now: He likes the way Carrie cut his sandwiches better than the way his mother cut them.

Haley confronts Carrie for visiting Jamie. She tells Carrie in no uncertain terms to stay away from Nathan and Jamie. Jamie witnesses this and expresses hatred for Haley.

Owen accepts(on a whim) Brooke's offer to accompany her to New York. She takes him to one of her(probably many)swanky apartments, but it appears to occupied. Owen calmly sneaks in , where he sees drug paraphernalia on a table and a woman overdosing on the floor. Hey, It's Rachel!

Owen grabs Rachel, turns on the shower and holds her under the water while he slaps her in the face repeatedly and yells at her to wake up. Brooke looks on in horror. That escalated quickly.

Brooke reveals that Rachel worked for her as a model, but Rachel got hooked on the smack and Victoria forced Brooke to fire her.  Rachel's drug dealer shows up,and gets his ass kicked by Owen. He takes his shirt off beforehand, to pretend to be a druggie. Gratuitous! Rachel is alive, but has definitely hit rock bottom physically and emtionally.

Owen was once an alcoholic, and he had a friend who helped him get clean. He's upset with Brooke for cutting all ties with Rachel. Brooke vows to get Rachel into rehab. Rachel is unreceptive to this idea, and begs to stay at Brooke's instead....

Dan(still sporting the goatee)seems very penitent, and vows to be a good citizen is he is released. Lucas tells the parole board the whole sad story of his abandonment by Dan, and the murder of his uncle Keith. He warns them that Dan is very persuasive. Lucas is shocked to learn from that Nathan visited Dan in prison earlier. He believes this will influence the board's decision.

CLIFFHANGER(S) Quentin must wear a cast for several weeks, which will definitely jeopardize his career. He hides his cast from Nathan, and later cuts it off in the locker room when he's all alone.

Dan gets the results of his parole hearing, which we will get to hear next time...

While Nathan and Haley are arguing about Carrie, Jamie goes outside and falls in the poll, where he nearly drowns. Haley tells Nathan their marriage is over(again!)

Poor fallen Rachel goes to live with Brooke! Hopefully she will get to be the old  fun loving Rachel again.
