Some You Give Away(Season 4, Episode 9)

The state championship has been lost. Whitey's dream of going out on top is crushed. Nathan is beside himself with grief (in what looks like the hallway of a hospital )and Peyton is at home crying too(thinking about professing her love to Lucas) What's going on? Oh wait, this is a flash forward of sorts...

Twenty four hours earlier: We see Lucas in the river court jazzed up about the big game. Nathan tells him the game must be lost to save him from Daunte and his goons. Lucas reminds Nathan of how much everyone else has sacrificed(Coach, Skillz, and Mouth too!) Nathan insists he has no choice at all, and Lucas vows to battle it out with him on the court.

Haley has knowledge about math that Rachel isn't willing to hear! Rachel has an epiphany: wouldn't it just be easier for Haley to give the test(which she has access to)to Rachel? Haley tells Rachel she will do no such thing! That's probably not the end of that.

Lucas continues to appeal to Nathan's conscience, and it seems to be working. The crows of excited fans following the bus has something to do with it also. Lucas tells Skillz that Nathan still might want to throw the game, and they conspire to make sure that does not happen. 

The girls ride together separately, and they bicker. Actually it's mostly Peyton and Brooke bickering. Haley suddenly falls violently ill, and all the others put aside their differences to take care of her. The nurse at the hospital is less than helpful, and we see Brooke, Peyton Rachel and even Bevin unleash their collective bitchy fury! It's pretty great. The doctor lets it slip that her baby is a boy.

Skillz does his best to keep the ball from Nathan, but he cannot stop the other team from scoring. Luckily, Haley shows up just in time with her good news and Nathan is motivated now to do the right thing. The news broadcast announcing the championship loss in the "flash forward"was actually from eighteen years earlier. Whitey plays it for the team just before the final quarter, just to show how long he's been waiting to win a championship, dammit. Great fake out.

The Ravens win! Everybody celebrates! Except for Dan who knows what's coming next. He eyes Daunte and Hulking Bodyguard in the stands above him. he seems to momentarily contemplate what to do next(probably murder.) Daunte tells Dan he is very surprised Nathan has a soul, unlike his father. Ouch.

 Haley is very happy that Rachel passed her latest test. But, SURPRISE! Rachel has stolen Haley's key for the room where the exams are kept, and she entices Brooke with he promise of free grades. Don't do that shit, Brooke!

CLIFFHANGERS(AND HOW) Nathan and Haley are leaving their celebration. Daunte lies in wait in his car, and he speeds toward them. Haley pushes Nathan out of the way and she gets hit and goes flying. WHAT KIND OF GOD WOULD ALLOW SUCH A THING?!! Daunte crashes into a well placed construction zone.

Lucas arrives and calls for and ambulance, but he's so overwhelmed by what is happening that he has a heart attack and collapses next to Haley on the ground!Oh no!

Daunte is dead, but that doesn't stop Nathan from pulling the corpse out of the vehicle and pummeling it until his knuckles are bloody. Dan shows up just in time and assumes Nathan has murdered Daunte, and he stays behind to take the blame while he instructs Nathan to flee.

Brooke tells Peyton that some really bad stuff has gone down. A massive understatement!
