The Leaving Song(Season 1, Episode 21)

Nathan is fulfilling his obligation to the team by helping Lucas get back into playing shape. Dan's behavior as of late seems to have brought them closer together, which does not go unnoticed by Coach Whitey.

Speaking of Coach, he needs to go in for some kind of eye surgery:  it seems more serious than he lets on. This gives Dan the perfect opportunity to worm his way in as replacement for the upcoming state final game.  Dan is hard on the team in practice, but singles out Lucas for extra abuse. Lucas is so physically taxed he honks everywhere! That's serious.

Haley is innocently researching for her school work on Nathan's new internet connection when she discovers a lot of bookmarked porn sites.  She is very upset by this development. Nathan tells Haley she's overreacting, and even Lucas tells her to give the guy a break. Haley is very self conscious and wonders how she can compete with "plastic bimbos."

Brooke and Peyton's shopping trip at the mall with the baby turns into a nightmare when Crazy Nicki appears and snatches Jenny. After a brief scare, crazy mother and oblivious child return.  Nicki is establishing her parental rights: it seems that Jake was never legally granted custody, and Nicki is now planning take Jake to court for full custody herself.  Did I forget to mention that Brooke and Peyton made up last time? I'm sorry.

Peyton has a plan:  Jake and Jenny running, running as fast as they can. Her father is leaving on another lengthy trip, so he allows Jake and Jenny a ride to...wherever. Peyton bids them a tearful farewell. Farewell, cool dude!

Haley may have overreacting to the porn, but how about those photos of Peyton that Nathan forgot to delete? That's a deal breaker! Haley's had enough, and splits!

Karen reveals to Lucas that Dan wanted to help her raise Lucas way back when, before Nathan came along. Lucas is shocked by this. Could things have been different? Would he and his mother be happier? Is he a total idiot? This revelation, along with all his broken relationships with Brooke and Peyton, Lucas to make a decision. he wants to move to Charleston with Keith. That's right, run away from your problems, you big sissy!

Lucas may go to Charleston, but Tree Hill will pull him back. It isn't done with him yet. Tree Hill loves choosing people with daddy issues to fulfill its purposes. Bwa-ha-ha!
