An Attempt To Tip The Scales(Season 3, Season 4)

These Tree Hill kids and their parties! This time they're having a masquerade ball. This episode opens with a montage of Lucas trying on different costumes(including an ersatz Jack Sparrow) while Haley watches in delight. Lucas jokes that Haley should dress as a belly dancer to catch Nathan's eye. Haley insists that she could go the party naked and Nathan would not notice. Spoiler: Haley doesn't get naked at all in this episode. She's just being sarcastic!

It's all a waste though, Brooke decides the costume Lucas will wear: Tommy Lee(the rocker, formerly married to Pamela Anderson.) PLOT TWIST! Haley sees Lucas steal money from the cash register at the cafe. It's for his medication,of course, but she doesn't know that yet.

Meanwhile, Peyton designs her own costume, an angel(or rather angel of death.) Based on the finished product, Peyton could work for Hollywood.

Dan is none too happy that the mayor took Whitey's side during that hearing, so he sets the mayor up with prostitutes and video tapes it. The mayor is forced to resign. Even worse he must endorse Dan for mayor or that tape will get released for all to see. This leads to a dumb subplot in which Debra pisses off Dan by buying lots of new crap in "celebration." Also Dan tries to get frisky with Debra and she tazers him in the genitals. Dan retaliates by supergluing the phone, than calling her and blasting her eardrums with a foghorn while she is helpless!

Devil Costume Brooke comes to the party with Haley, who's dressed as Olivia Newton John's character from Grease. It's a good look for her, except for the high heels, which cause Haley to fall on her face and get humiliated. Batman Nathan "saves" Haley but she runs off, because, well she's humiliated.

Haley is ready to go home,  until Batman shows up, kisses her and leaves without saying a word. She thinks it's Nathan of course, and she's on cloud nine! But all is not well: Haley has taken the rap for taking the money, and she is beside herself when Lucas reveals his hear disease.

Lucas wears the stupid Tommy Lee costume, but it's a set up from Brooke. Why she did this, I have no idea. Brooke is happy to see Lucas look like a fool until  he starts dancing with a girl dressed like Pamela Anderson. It's Rachel! Though she isn't formally introduced until next episode.

Peyton disco dances with Mouth. Peyton is  still acting like a bitch to Haley. I'm  not letting off her the hook for that just because she looks cute while dancing!

CLIFFHANGER! Nathan meets with Chris Keller and demands that Chris Keller help Haley with her music! Chris Keller agrees! Chris Keller goes back to his apartment and we see that he too had a Batman costume. Chris Keller was the Batman that Haley kissed! Maybe. He seems awfully pleased with himself.
