The Runaway Found(Season 4, Episode 18)

The woman at that house insists no girl named Abby lives there, but Lucas sees her peering at him from the upstairs bedroom when he leaves. Dan watches, unsure of what to do.

The next day, Lucas breaks into the house and confronts Abby. Abby seems to confirm that Jimmy did not kill Keith. She doesn't speak, however, and Abby's mother hints that Abby had a mental breakdown. Lucas leaves again, somehwat befuddled.

Nathan fears a federal investigation into the points shaving scandal will bring him big trouble. Dan advises him to deny everything and hope for the best. Worried Haley asks Lucas what to expect: Lucas tells Haley if Nathan's criminal activities are uncovered, he won't go to prison, but his college dreams will be over.

Lucas takes the heat for Nathan. He goes to Whitey and claims he missed some shots in the championship game on purpose. Whitey uses the "your uncle would be ashamed!" card. Nathan is pissed that Lucas just didn't keep his mouth shut about the whole thing.

Peyton is haunted by hallucinations of  Psycho Derek wherever she goes. Even in the shower! She decides to go on an ill advised trip to jail to visit him Psycho Derek(whose real name is Ian!)lays the usual stalker guilt trip on Peyton: he blames her for sending him photos and wearing certain clothing, which made him fall in love with her. Peyton is still down in the dumps.

Brooke decides to help Peyton get her groove back! She reminds Peyton that the both of them kicked Psycho Ian's ass all over the place, and now it's time to learn some things about him, since he knows everything about Peyton. A web search on Ian discovers his high school girlfriend looked a lot like Peyton. Except, the girlfriend, is, well, dead.

Abby isn't crazy...just pretending. She's tired of hiding out and wants to tell somebody about what she saw. But hen Dan bursts in, right on cue, and he's carrying a brown paper bag. He just bought a pistol at the gun shop! Oh no! After a tense confrontation, in which Abby tells Dan she hopes he burns in hell, Dan produces a doll from the bag and leaves. A gift! How strange.

Peyton goes back to the jail to see Ian, with Brooke this time. Ian tells the sad story of how he lost control while driving and his girlfriend died. Suddenly Ian seems less like a monster and more like a simpering child. Upon seeing how pathetic Ian is, Peyton forgives him, and probably releases herself from torment in the process.

Dan spills a bottle of booze on Keith's grave, and when he tries to light a cigarette, he sets the thing ablaze! There's that fire imagery again!

Abby tells Lucas how she see Dan murder Keith. She stalked him with taunts and messages, hoping he would come clean about the whole thing. Lucas wants to convince her to go the cops, but Abby and her mom leave town in a hurry.

CLIFFHANGER(S) Nathan reveals his point shaving to the media. Lucas goes home to see Dan making out with his mom(ewww again.)Dan tearfully admits to Karen he won't ever be the father to Lucas that Keith was.Karen takes this as an admission of Dan's past mistreatment of Keith and Lucas. Plus, he has seemed deceptively nice over the course of this season, giving her the crib and helping her out at the cafe. Of course she likes him now.

I suppose I should mention the scene where Dan buys the gun. It seems to be in some kind of pawn shop, and he tries out the gun buy aiming it at a display of teddy bears. A little girl wanders into his sights, and she's holding the doll that Dan gives to Abby. Maybe it bought from her as consolation for scaring the life out of her. Or she dropped it as she ran away in terror.

100 POSTS! That's something, I guess.

    1. Thanks!

Abby's mother was played Sean Young, who was once a big star. You know, Blade Runner...
